Interesting thoughts.

Another problem is that Apple M1's don't support x86 based windows virtualization systems. VMWare said it would be too much trouble (since they'd have to emulate the x86 on ARM). With some trouble, one can run ARM Windows 11 on the Apple silicon, but then the native x86 applications have to rely on Microsoft emulation. If that works like Apple x86 emulation, it's a problem. I have two important MacOS x86 apps that don't work right on the M1.

So, sunsetting support for x86 Apple hardware will hit those of use using it to run our Windows virtualization (I keep a 2017 MacBook Pro alive *just* for that purpose).
