He article reads like a jeremiad against all American Christianity. Sure, later on, is some mentoin that it doesn't apply to all congregations. But look at the framing.

""To be a Christian these days is a political statement, a statement that my conscience can no longer tolerate. Christianity in 21st Century America has come to represent""

That is profoundly false. Furthermore, it is clear that you are anti-right-wing, and thus equate some Christian doctrines that coincide with conservative ideas with politicizing Christianity.

As one who grew up a Protestant, and is now a Catholic, and knows many evangelicals, I can testify that your experience is not representative, and your condemnation is way, way too strong.

I found the article to be more like preaching to the church haters than anything else. You collect all the variuos wrongs that exist somewhere in some congregation in America, and list them under the heading:

I'd suggest some meditation on humility and charity.
