America has contributed greatly to improving the life of billions around the world, through our incredible innovation producing system.

We should be paid for that if one is going to do the silly thing of "how much should X pay."

And perhaps you should ask: what would it cost to live with climate change. That calculation has been done and it is *far* less than the numbers mentioned here.

Finally, the world is not America. Our emissions make up a relatively small part of global CO2 emissions, and ours have not been rising as fast as, say, those of the Kyoto Treaty countries.

Overall, Climate Change is a hysteria which is used to extort vast sums to be spent on silly nostrums like wind and solar power - which as an engineer I can confidently say are almost a total waste, and are not scalable due to their intermittency. It is also the way a large number of scientists get paid - by doing study after study after study. Years ago, I researched and found a number of studies of the effect of GW or CC or whatever on surfing. You can find the same studies on almost everything, because adding climate change to one's study description is the way to get it funding.

And this results in corrupt science - strong incentives to keep they hysteria going, using models that have never been proven and theoretically cannot be accurate to scare people into coughing up money.
